Hey man I have been researching and researching trying to find the answer to these 2 questions for years and can't seem to find anyone with knowledge on this. I know you're a very busy guy but I would REALLY appreciate it if you found the time to write back. I feel like if anyone knows the answers to these it would be you. My two questions are:
1. Does casein slow down the absorption of whey? As in, if I took in 30 grams whey and 30 grams casein before bed does the casein slow the whey down?
2. How long does it take for complex carbs, from let's say oatmeal, to turn into glycogen once consumed? As in, if I took in 54 grams carbs from oatmeal how many hours does it take for the body to break all of that down and turn it into glycogen? The reason that I'm curious on this is because I work 72 hours per week, 6pm - 6:30am. I wake up at 3pm and I'm at the gym lifting by 4pm. I want to have glycogen for my workout, so I wake up at 1pm to take in oatmeal and then go back to sleep until 3pm. That way I give my body time (3 hours) to break down the complex carbs into glycogen before I'm at the gym. Does that make sense? I know it sounds confusing. Is 3 hours enough time to break down 54 grams of carbs or should I give it 4 hours? Or does the body convert the carbs to glycogen at a faster rate, like 2 hours?
