High 500's for 59 is great. That's what majority of 26 year olds are walking around with these days.
If you don't want to risk that, don't touch anything IMO. I do think facing recovery at that age is optimistic at best.
At the end of the day though, numbers aren't the be all and end all. Whether or not he should or would benefit from being on TRT is dependant on HOW he feels.
