Is this the VG? Having a hard time finding it on my own..
Shift your wieght from right to left. You'll see a muscle about where your finger is pop out. Its also the muscle that wraps the side of your hip when you sit down.

I use 1 inch no problems doesn't hurt and if any gear does give pip it's not bad at all compared to quads if you get pip
