About 8 months ago i injured my left shoulder due to heavy lifting. I had to take 2 weeks off the gym completely. after that i have not done direct shoulder work. Every time i do incline db press , after about 6-8 reps i feel my left shoulder, which is the one that got messed up, gives out a lot easier then the right. Its been 8 months and i want to start doing direct shoulder work but im not sure how to go about doing it without risking another injury. I tried some things out and the left shoulder is not weaker then the right, it just goes out faster then the right, and it feels like something is about to go wrong. I get 30% into my shoulder workout and i have to quit bevause i feel something is wrong. Has anyone had experience in training after a shoulder injury?

Try this exercise it is not for mass building but I believe it does help to build and target shoulder muscles in ways that other techniques do not. Grab a dumbbell and hold it like you are holding a hammer with your elbow pressed close to your body above your hip. Holding the dumbbell move the dumbbell out and away from your body - then back again to starting position. I would do these in the morning watching the news getting my shoulder prepped until I could actually lift with it again. Do not use heavy weight use a manageable weight. I would go light to a little heaver but again this is not for gaining this is for building the protection your shoulder muscle needs to protect itself and stay comprehensively strong. Your shoulder is one of the most complex sections of the body. A really tricky ball and socket joint and there are many crisscrossing muscle groups that overlap in that area so it hard to pinpoint which part to work without doing more damage.

shoulders are horrible injuries... did you go to the doctor for this? these are injuries that often require surgery or A LOT of rest but your only aggravating it every time you put any strain on it so it will essentially only get worse, not better... i have a few ideas for healing for you to enhance your healing to the highest extent but the way you are going, its only going to get worse... you probably need an MRI... at least a diagnosis of some kind... https://www.sarmsx.com/stacks/healing-and-recovery-stack-12-weeks-2?sort=p.price&order=DESC this is the healing stack you would want...

That excercise you are describing is for rotator cuff strengthening. No more than 10# dumbbells shud be used or u r engaging the delt muscle. The rotator cuff is a group of four small muscles that lays under your delt if you tear those you probly wont ever lift heavy weight again.

Where is the weird feeling located? Front of delt by your pec. Rear delt area. Deep inside the delt like a joint feeling odd. Is there any grinding or popping when you do your delt work? Plz describe in detail where you are feeling what and i can help you understand whats happening and what can be done.

Shoulder pain sucks bad. I've been dealing for years. I've read that only complete tears absolutely require surgery.
I do Lots of band work for warm up. And did rear delt machne every day for months. That helped strengthen those small muscles a lot.
Without surgery I went from barely lifting the bar to benching 300+. I'm pretty sure I'll always deal with some sort of pain . I just work thru it.
If you've been dealing for 8 mnths I agree with the MRI Sggestion.

I also think the MRI is what you should do first. 8 months is along time to deal with that without any sort of real recovery

there used to be popping when i rotate my arm but the popping is gone now. The pain is more in the front delt

Obviously you should go to an orthopedist and have it evaluated. And they will most certainly order an mri as xray wont show anything. But my guess as i have dealt with alot of shoulder being a baseball player. I would say if you had a deinding or popping but now pain you have a labral tear. Most assuridly in the area of your biceps tendon causing discomfort. If you cant afford to go to the dr. Google labral tear physical therapy excercises. They will all be w resistance bands to strengthen the shoulder muscles and also strengthen certain muscles to take the pressure of the joint. Thats what i would suggest.

I consider myself a pro when it comes to shoulder injury. Take my advice brother, go see your primary care and go to ortho. There is something about the shoulder that no matter how bad the injury is, we always feel like a little rest and lighter workout will make everything better. I waited about 7 months until I finally brought up my initial injury (left shoulder). Ended up being a SLAP (labrum torn from front to back), since I tried to tough it out I developed degenerative arthritis to boot. While also causing damage in my lower back and right shoulder, because I was using them to compensate the weakness in my left. Surgery, PT, no lifting for 6 months. constantly being reminded that I am prone to injury now...sucked ass! Fast forward 9 months, and I reinjured the shit. This time they cut my bicep tendon and then rerouted the tendon under and over the shoulder as opposed to its natural over and under. No curls for a year. Can you deal with that bro? No curls? Get that shit checked out!

well the thing is, it only bothers me when i train shoulders. anyways, the primary will send me to the hospital to get mri's done? I had a xray done at the emergency room, the day after the injury, they said xray was fine and no bone damage. they also said that in 3 weeks it should be good. my current doctor is prejudice against steroid users, she wouldn't even give me sleeping pills, for the tren. I will go see her in 2-3 weeks after im off the tren and hopefully i can get my shoulder fixed. So what is the standard protocal after a mri? will i need surgery?

It depends on the extent of your injury. That's the whole point of getting the MRI....to see exactly the extent of your damage, and what actions need taken to correct it

X-ray is going to show bones. The MRI is going to show muscle, ligaments, and a whole lot of other stuff. I know the feeling bro. Mine only bothered me when I wanted to train shoulders or raise my arm above my head, but there is probably some damage there that is worth having somebody look at.
