Off topic quickie - What do you drink while in the gym?

I've been drinking a ton of water as of late since I'm on cycle, but have been known to add a cup of coffee to a gallon of water and take it to the head at the gym. Better to spend the whopping $1.49 on a cup of joe and add it to free water than fork out $35-50.00 on some pw based mostly upon caffeine. I'm cheap when it comes to anything that isn't gear... or tattoos, or fitted tee's, or ball caps, or sneakers, or more gear and steaks.

Girls be like "oh I need this" and drop a $50 pencil lip liner. Then go to department store for free perfume before going to the party [emoji12][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] we have our share. Poor me I'm starting this new sarms hobby [emoji12]. No shopping shoes for me for awhile

Yeah, but that is kind of a flawed example. First of all, you can't really bring enough "sports drink" to last you for weeks in the desert. Water tends to be slightly easier to come by in most places. Also, drinking sports drinks for weeks is probably going to give you all kinds of problems. What I am talking about is during intense instances of hard training not lasting more than 60-90 minutes, not weeks in the desert.

Sports drinks do contain water you know.... plus minerals and electrolytes and other stuff you need.

It seems I am not getting through here.... :(

What I am talking about is WHY is it better drinking clean water than water AND minerals and vitamins that will enhance your performance? And this is during WORKOUTS only, not during deployments in Afghanistan.

you sound like a sad gatorade salesmen... that bull shit wont work on people that actually KNOW what they are talking about... dont you find it a bit strange everyone says the same thing but YOU?

i mean for fucks sake... walk into any gym and what do you see the entire gym carrying around? fucking water... gallon jugs, etc... you dont see a bunch of bull shit drinks being carried around, LOLLL...

I feel like it's more nutritious then gay plain water. Guess you don't get it.

it most certainly is!

on a serious note... next time your in whole foods, get some Mountain Valley Spring Water or Voss... My FAVORITE water is the REAL water... alkaline... i drink that ALL DAY LONG

But guys, water....is only water. Water wont be enough to replenish what you sweat out. What makes water superior to a low sugar sports drink with potassium, sodium, malic accid, Citric Acid, magnesium, calcium, vitamins etc. The fact that these things are (if even slightly) performance enhancing has been known for years and is not "bro science".

I am just trying to get it. Is it because you dont like the taste? Is it because you dont want to spend the money or is it just that you dont care enough about that extra 1%? I am in a dilemma here myself asking myself these questions and I cant come up with a good answer.

Bro you are seriously overthinking the shit out of this. If you think you must immediately replenish electrolytes during a workout, you are a mistaken. That's what you do when you eat your post workout meal and during the rest of the day. That's when you replenish.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with drinking water and only water during your workout. If it gives you peace of mind to drink electrolytes and whatever else during your workout, go for it....but it is not necessary at all. You aren't going to lose all of your electrolytes during even the most grueling workouts

Unless you have been going at it for days and days and days then you still have plenty to spare.Belive me bro...you are not near death because of your 2 hour workout in the gym with A/C. When you have been marching for days as a P.O.W, then maybe you need some electrolytes. This is called the pussyfication of americans.Oh gee I worked out, i need whey bcaa, gatorade creatine etc. Get over it tough americans. Drink water

Amen to all of that Jake! Well said, my friend and that's exactly what has happened to America

Don't you guys remember that big Gatorade scam that was ousted? That they had their own "science institute" to support whatever nonsense they came up with, and then when independent researchers actually crunched the numbers, there was absolutely ZERO evidence of their claims. Not even once.

To the point where (forget about electrolyte replacement) not even actual physical dehydration from drinking nothing was as bad as things like OVERhydration of any liquid trying to 'restore electrolytes' - that are restored with food anyway.

H 2 Woah is where it's at. If I want a bit of a sugar hit, I'll juice an orange and add a spoon flick of citrulline to my water (both too tangy sweet to drink straight) if I've bothered to buy it.

Water is absorbed faster than any other fluid for recovery... simple, serves it's purpose and most wonderfully free. As for that alkalized water....meh. I'm skeptical of anything I can create in my bathtub with copper wires and a car battery. Too much unproven hype behind it IMO. In Japan and Korea those things (alkalizers) are everywhere and the reason they are so healthy is not the alkalized water...it's called fish and vegetables galore. Anyone who can eat a fish head deserves to be healthy, that mf'er has gonads of steel.
Unless you're working out to the point where your sweat leaves salt stains on your clothes and skin... you're not getting critically dehydrated. This from a old Marine Infantryman who would ruck it out for 30+ miles while carrying a combat load. Man I just remembered the time this muslim terp was salivating over seeing me shirtless in Iraq... thought I was gonna have to bounce his head off a T-wall he was so happy. Too damn happy...smh.

I keep a jug of chocolate milk in my fridge... blame it on my old football days. 1 cup of chocolate milk works wonders for recovery/soreness. I'm sure NY ROBO fully endorses me on that.
