I have been drinking BCAA for a good while now, but now that we all know that its basically useless unless you haven't had anything to eat for a good while before workout it feels kind of meh (it used to have a nice placebo effect on me).

Plain water is pretty hardcore but it contains no nutrients and replenishes nothing besides fluid, I feel that there has to be a better choice.

What is the ultimate workout drink? What replenishes what we expend during our hard (hopefully) workouts? I for one sweat like a pig which means that I need electrolytes, salt, some form of energy etc.

I ask this here since people taking steroids are trying to be the best. People who try to be the best cant just say that they do everything PERFECT and then when you ask them what they drink during workout, they just say, meh...water or something.

I drink either grape flavored water or water that I flavor with lemons, limes, oranges, & grapefruit.

Theres alot of diferant protocals for sifferant things and I see people mix them up and it becomes confusing not knowing who using what . for the natty lifter or serious guy on mild anabolics drink water maybe some crystal light but plain water is better . but they see the giant bodybuilder with 3 scoops of karbolyn and 20 grams of bcaas and think im gonna do that hes huge so a trend starts but if they knew about the 15 ius of humalog he takes preworkout and the 4 ius of serostim postworkout they would understand the need . for them ots a waist.

I personally do a big shaker of water during my workout mixed with bcaas, glutamine, and Creatine.

But the main thing is getting the water in. That's the important part

water, water and water

But guys, water....is only water. Water wont be enough to replenish what you sweat out. What makes water superior to a low sugar sports drink with potassium, sodium, malic accid, Citric Acid, magnesium, calcium, vitamins etc. The fact that these things are (if even slightly) performance enhancing has been known for years and is not "bro science".

I am just trying to get it. Is it because you dont like the taste? Is it because you dont want to spend the money or is it just that you dont care enough about that extra 1%? I am in a dilemma here myself asking myself these questions and I cant come up with a good answer.

Because water is vital to our body. Were 60% water. Lack of water = loss of muscle strength.

I been deployed in the hottest areas of the world wearing 80+pounds gear for weeks.

Know what we drank. WATER. WATER WATER

THESE GAINZ SPONSORED BY ROBOLICS

Yeah, but that is kind of a flawed example. First of all, you can't really bring enough "sports drink" to last you for weeks in the desert. Water tends to be slightly easier to come by in most places. Also, drinking sports drinks for weeks is probably going to give you all kinds of problems. What I am talking about is during intense instances of hard training not lasting more than 60-90 minutes, not weeks in the desert.

Sports drinks do contain water you know.... plus minerals and electrolytes and other stuff you need.

It seems I am not getting through here.... :(

What I am talking about is WHY is it better drinking clean water than water AND minerals and vitamins that will enhance your performance? And this is during WORKOUTS only, not during deployments in Afghanistan.

OK, there's way too much sugar in sports drink for me. I'm also in gym for about an hour and its not 100 degreez so I'll survive without the added electrolytes . I don't believe it will give me an edge. People have survived since idk beginning of time off .... Water

Sports drinks are for endurance athletes not bodybuilders if your running a marothon playing soccer thats one thing your sweating like hell and burning tons of calories . for physique enhacing purposes lots of sodium and sugar is just going too cause water retention and make you look like shit soft and fluffy . I get high volume workouts in while cutting on almost pure protien diet with very high calorie deficit. The tiny benifit from that gator aid will not out weigh the negatives . sports drinks are mostly just marketing anyway

Unless you have been going at it for days and days and days then you still have plenty to spare.Belive me bro...you are not near death because of your 2 hour workout in the gym with A/C. When you have been marching for days as a P.O.W, then maybe you need some electrolytes. This is called the pussyfication of americans.Oh gee I worked out, i need whey bcaa, gatorade creatine etc. Get over it tough americans. Drink water

I've been drinking a ton of water as of late since I'm on cycle, but have been known to add a cup of coffee to a gallon of water and take it to the head at the gym. Better to spend the whopping $1.49 on a cup of joe and add it to free water than fork out $35-50.00 on some pw based mostly upon caffeine. I'm cheap when it comes to anything that isn't gear... or tattoos, or fitted tee's, or ball caps, or sneakers, or more gear and steaks.
