Sleep and body warmth and how it relates to hypertrophy

Drop 2k on a sensory deprivation chamber and sleep in that every night. Just make sure you use an adequate amount of Epsom salt so you actually stay afloat and don't drown in your sleep.

I've never done this but it will allow you to stay suspended above water and you can control the temp of the water and its in a completely still environment. Zero sense of smell, sight, feeling, Gravity, and even hearing. Joe Rogan described it as floating in space.

I spent all this time between posts reading up. So cooler temps are better for REM and therefore more hormones released, however the key word is cool, not cold as cold causes a whole other reaction. I am regulated to two truly comfy sleep positions because as Dorin stated my body weight will limit blood flow to weighted down limbs. Besides I'm actually heavy to myself sadly but oh well. Anyways cool sleep assists muscle growth apparently.

Not just your body weight. But anyones! Whenever you put weight of your bidy onto certain tissues, you are going to cut blood and O2 off to those tisdues!! We all do bro.

Dorin that's obviously common when ppl sleeep certain ways. However if you weigh a lot obviously that's additional pressure and or force applied to said limb/extremity.

True, but loss of circulation if it ocvurs at 140 lbs is going to be the same as loss of circulation at 240 lbs! Once blood stops flowing to certain tissues? Additional weight is irrelevant. Only thing to change is loos of circulation in a larger area, but is still loss.

Here, like this: if blood stopped flowing to parts, such as leg tissue, including muscle, at your total body weight of 140? Adding another 100 lbs of weight will not change anything!

This is why is critical for us to keep turning our post op patients every two hours while they are recovering in bed! From oh lets say total right hip arthroplasty, hip replacement. Not turning them and repositioning them in bed every two hours means there is great risk of loss of blood circulation in tossues turning into a stage one pressure ulcer!!

It has begun turning into tissue necrosis because of hypoxia, loss of O2 because of loss of blood flow.

Hypoxemia is reduced O2 in blood supply, system wide, entire body.
Hypoxia is reduced O2 in tissues.
Ischemia is reduced blood supply to tissues.
Infarction is tissue death due to hypoxia!

Fortunately your body has built in alarm system that recognises when blood supply is cut off too long and it forces you to change sleeping positions, while you are in deep REM and totally not aware of moving around while in sleep!

I prefer to sleep in my fridge. I'm always hot and sweating. Wife uses two blankets and a comforter I use a sheet. Nothing worse then trying to sleep hot.

Not to mention when hungry? Snacks and leftovers are within easy reach!

It's an interesting topic, and while I'm sure that cooler temps are probably more beneficial, I don't think it equates to any perceptible noticeable benefit. I do like to sleep in a cool room always, but it's one of things that doesn't make much difference in my opinion. What Does matter is the quality and amount of sleep.....that is a big key in recovery for hypertrophy

I tend to sleep better in cooler temps and even if the difference is in fact marginal I want it lol. I figure with as much as we do to pursue the ideal physique, this is free with exception to the electric bill to run the air conditioner and or fan. Rick I'm just glad to be in a conversation that is full of medical jargon after reading Marcus Wellby's syllabus.

I'm always warm but I like sleeping with cold air on blast. It's the only way I can sleep.

I would think a warm body would help with muscle growth. Warm body = increased blood flow, and I know blood flow helps muscle recovery by flushing out toxins like lactic acid, I think.
