Anastrozole vs. Exemestane

Both anastrozole and exemestane are obviously A.I.'s.

I've always used exemestane for my cycles, and it has always worked as it's supposed to.

I know that the two are slightly different in some ways. My question is when should you use one over the other? Does it matter?

Do different steroid compounds require different A.I.'s?

it definitely matters... aromasin is far stronger, its a suicide inhibitor and actually kills estrogen where as arimidex merely suppresses it... not to mention arimidex can hurt your cholesterol and holds no real value in pct... its not good at preventing rebound either.... aromasin increases igf-1 levels, making it extremely strong for pct on top of the fact it prevents rebound so well... arimidex is fine to use but if your comparing the two, aromasin is far and away the better choice...

Perfectly said. I would always opt for Aromasin if the choice is given. So many benefits that makes it worth it.

nuff said. This is why aromasin is always the preferred ai.

Here is a nice little write up I did on aromasin some time ago

Exemestane (Aromasin)

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to AI's (Aromatose inhibitors), and Aromasin is certainly one of the most popular options for bodybuilders that cycle steroids for a number of reasons.

Aromasin is a suicidal Aromatose inhibitor, which makes it a better choice than other AIs. Exemestane binds with aromatase enzymes and then subsequently permanently disables the enzyme by destroying it.

Aromasin is a steroidal AI which keeps it from negatively affecting your lipids like other non-steroidal AIs. It is also not liver toxic, and can be ran for longer lengths of time without negative effect. This makes it a better option to run on cycle from a pure health standpoint. Aromasin will not hurt your gains on cycle like other AIs, but may actually help them. Another benefit on cycle is that steroidal AIs lower SHBG which increases the ratio of free to bound testosterone. What that means during your cycle is a very positive impact on your gains. This (in a sense) makes your AAS more bio-available.

The half-life of Aromasin is only about 9 hours, and clears quickly. However, because of how effective Exemestane is at eliminating Aromatose enzymes (80-90% after administration), estrogen levels will remain low up to 72 hours after a single dose of 25mg. This is why aromasin is very effective dosed just every other day. In one study, users were still 40% below baseline estrogen values 72 hours after their dose. This is because no more Aromatose can be made until your body produces more Aromatose enzymes. This makes aromasin very versatile for dosing and not require more frequency.

Now, the place where aromasin really shines is in post cycle therapy (PCT). There is simply no other Aromatose inhibitor that can compare in terms of its effects on recovery. We already mentioned how aromasin lowers SHBG, which increases free testosterone. What does that mean? In a study Aromasin dosed at 25mg per day increased total testosterone by 60% in only 10 days. Even better than that, is the fact that free (useable) testosterone increased over 100% in the same time frame! On top of that, aromasin also increases IGF-1 levels. There is no estrogen rebound from aromasin, and is also a very powerful and effective treatment for gyno. All of this makes aromasin a no-brainer for post cycle therapy as well as on cycle estrogen control.

Long timer here. Hands down Aromasin. Not even close. And I have a bottle full of arimidex... won't take it. Aromasin is smoother, controls more easily, and really minimizes the SEs of estrogen rebound which is a bad scene for me in particular.

Its clear that aromasin is the better choice. I'm curious why doctors seem to push anastrozole for trt. Why is that?

Because it is what has been prescribed for as long as prescriptions for an AI have been given out, and for the most part doctors are clueless on exactly what these AIs do. They don't know any better and prescribe it because that's what has always been given out

one answer... cost

prescription anastrozole is far cheaper than exemestane even with a prescription... exemestane is more than double the cost... so its far more affordable for the patient to put them on anastrozole..
