Hormones + Stubborn Fat (lower back/belly)

I know this isnt gear related but thought id pick your guys brains

I know you cant target a certain area for burning fat, as its mostly genetic,

but what role do hormones play in this?

I seem to have accumulated an excess lower belly/lower back fat during my last bulk. My whole body is pretty lean, but theres so much jiggly tissue in my problem areas.

i did go way overboard (25%+ bf %) so I have no one else to blame. Wondering if there is a link as to why it may have accumulated so much more this bulk, compared to others.

It shouldn't be anything related to hormones. More than likely there's some loose skin giving the illusion of more fat in those areas because you let yourself balloon up way too much during your bulk, so now you just have to deal with that until the elasticity comes back. In my opinion bulks should always be lean and you shouldn't ever gain more than 2-3% bodyfat during a bulk. It becomes counterproductive to gains to try and gain too much, and it's a scientific fact that you make less gains at a higher bodyfat than you do with less

interesting rick rock.
Ive been doing a LOT of HIIT and its melting these areas away.
My plan now is to stay sub 10% and never have to worry about this again.

Personally, i have learned that i gain muscle at a pretty slow rate, even when blasting and running gear. I eat just enough above maintenance, 200 maybe 300 calories over maintenance. I have found this sufficient to gain muscle while minimizing fat gain. New muscle growth can only be synthesized at certain rate and this will depend on many variables, but one being genetic. Finding this "rate" is individual specific and will take some time. Eating above this rate will only lead to excess fat gain.

I typically stay between 8-15% tops max. When i reach the high end, i either maintain or cut back down until i can see my bottom abs, whatever % that is. This way i never have to do these long drawn out cuts and am always 6-8 weeks max away from being beach ready.

very nice plan brother... the more lean muscle you gain, the more fat you will lose and cardio and diet is the key... just stay consistent and disciplined bro

Consistency is definitely the Xfactor when it comes to achieving anything great. It’s all about pursuing excellence daily and making it a standard. It’s a mindset

getting there is NOT the hard part... maintenance is where it becomes a challenge and that's where your MIND takes over in deciding whether you maintain and progress

absolutely right brother... i have always taught people the difference between a star and a SUPERSTAR is THEIR ability to manipulate their OWN minds and the minds of their opponents.. .the ones that DO NOT get scared but put the fear into others... the ones that do not back down from ANY challenge and actually thrive in an environment that gets more difficult... the ones that WANT the ball with the game on the line... they LOOK FORWARD to it... same holds true here... the ones that WANT a daily challenge, that EAT IT UP when it gets difficult etc... thats how you separate the elite from the average in this...

Couldn't agree more brother!!! We as humans have been given the gift of consciousness and most of us live unconscious lives and not aware of the power and influence we actually have in life!! Everything starts and ends between the ears!! I have seen people put themselves into a state of extreme fear where breathing has become a problem and have symptoms of a heart attack in a perfectly safe environment by allowing their minds to get the best of them!! The mind is a very powerful tool to say the least!!!

absolutely right and while it can be your best friend or worst enemy, when you dial it in, you can do FAR more than you could ever comprehend or believe... if it were easy, then everyone would excel at an ultimate level... its FAR from easy and even the one's that think they have it done find areas of weakness but the ones that OVERCOME are the ones that succeed

We have similar views brother! It's a great topic that I could go on and on about!! Thank you for sharing!!

well said...and rarely understood
yes bro... it takes actually trying to maintain for years to truly understand... ANYONE can get focused a few months, bust ass and be committed but can you do it LONG TERM? thats the true test

Agreed completely. Maintaining over the long term shows true discipline and dedication
