Cables

Full disclosure: I've never been one to do much with cables. I'm a core exercise guy with the attitude go big or go home. I've started to change my tune the last few months because I've picked up a workout partner who's a strong believer in more isolation exercises. I'm slowly starting to see the benefits to cables but I still sway toward compound movements before cables. Today, I saw a big guy training on cables and he was doing some pretty cool back exercises that I've never seen. I thanked him for the free lesson (I was doing leg press next to his cable workout) and we started to chat about them. Long story short, he claims adding the iso exercises has helped him enhance his physique greatly.

So what say you all? Do you do cables..how often....do you think they have a place in your routine?

It all has its place and its benifits. depends what you wanna do. As someone who trains for the bodybuilding type physique, I hit cables daily. Isolation is 70% of my training.

It's always good to incorporate cables, isolation movements and machines along with compound movements. I look to cables and machines as more accessory movements, as I think your compounds should always be your bread and butter. However they certainly have their place

Ditto. I tend to do cmpd movements first (as they tend to be heavier) then finish with isolation. When my body seems to have adjusted I then sometimes reverse them but, more often than not, I just change exercises.

bro I did adductor and abductor for what I call "pu$$y lip" exercises and also donkey kicks. I haven't done those in a while with cables and I will tell you I was almost debilitated the next day way more than if I would have used the machine for them. So I am a strong believer that anything you can do to shock your body than the norm is always a good way to mix things up. so yes cables

Defently have a mix of Compound, machines and cables! Always keep your body guessing...
