Aromatase Inhibitors for increasing testosterone levels

baterst

Banned
I've seen this discussed on other bodybuilding forums. Apparently even low doses of an aromatase inhibitor can greatly increase testosterone levels. Maybe not enough for getting massive gains in bodybuilding, but perhaps enough for the average joe to gain a bit of muscle and feel better.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18426834
Letrozole once a week normalizes serum testosterone in obesity-related male hypogonadism.
"CONCLUSION: Letrozole 2.5 mg once a week produced a sustained normalization of serum total testosterone in obese men with IHH. However, free testosterone frequently rose to supraphysiological levels. Therefore, a starting dose <2.5 mg once a week is recommended."

I've even seen a study which claimed that a dose of 0.02 mg of letro will raise T levels by almost 50%!

Exemstane is similar - raising T while lowering estradiol.

Anyone who has used AIs only (without steroids) to gain a bit of strength in the gym, or with the specific purpose of increasing T levels?

Thoughts on using AIs (low dose) by themselves?

U need estrogen to build muscle just as much as u need testosterone...killing estrogen with an ai will cause u to lose gains

This is where bro science meets actual science..the study may be true..U may gain test levels..but killing Ur estrogen is not at all beneficial for a body builder..U want to "control" estrogen in a certain parameter..not squash it

absolutely right... you know what this reminds me of... the person that is talking about diet, that is eating pure shit calories every day but then says "well, it says calories in vs. calories out" so in their mind, as long as they have lower calories, it makes no difference if its all fucking candy bars etc... its ALL broscience and it can be misleading because these studies don't make mention of certain things, like the negative impact low estrogen can have... YES, aromasin can increase igf levels, which is why it is always recommended during pct, as well as preventing gyno rebound, but it does not mean run it as a stand alone all year etc.. and you are going to increase test levels... thats not how it works... everything needs to be precise and dialed in to work as it should...

The problem with this is, yes you may get a slight boost in test levels, but if you start lowering your estrogen when you are at normal levels, you will be hurting your ability to add muscle on top of experiencing the effects of low estrogen. It might sound goid in theory, but if you don't maintain the right test to estrogen ratio there's no point in any of it

Running an AI solo may increase your test levels, but not nearly enough to the point where you see physiological changes in the gym and your physique.

Thsts exactly right. A lot of people lose sight of the fact that raising your test levels from say 500-600 up to 700-900 really isn't going to do a damn thing that's perceptible

exactly... the problem is that immediately when people read that it can increase test levels, they either stop further reading or don't understand what exactly it means.. they just automatically assume that is all there is to it... which clearly is not the case...
