I couldn't give you any experienced advice but I'm planning my first show as well in the near future. I feel I need more mass too but I'm confident I'll have it. I DO think a V shape torso is probably the main ingredient but like Rick said its over all aesthetics

I was going to share what I believe TX is eluding to.... I would be careful how much size you put on if youre set on classic physique. There are height categories with weight limits. My buddy who is 5'9 is just wrapping up a pretty lean bulk at about 220 now... which gives him about 14 weeks to drop 30 pounds. Would be kinda shitty to put in so much work building to throw it away in a drastic cut. Just saying... keep it lean leading up
Ya I agree with always keeping it lean. Your buddy having to drop 30 pounds is way overboard. The farthest I ever would get is about 12 lbs from my contest weight, and usually I'm under 10 lbs from it

Oh then youre in great shape. I was gonna say... when rick said you were 5'9 and I remembered you being 220 or so it would be tough getting to 192 and keeping that hard earned muscle.
Yeah hes not the brightest. Im pretty sure hes dropping to 192. Theres a 5'8-5'9 class at 185 and a 5'9-5'10 at 192. Im doing the 5'8-5'9 and im sitting at 185 just under 8% now. Couple pounds to go.

Ya your good. I wouldn't be too concerned about any major mass gain unless you plan to take a year or so before hand. At this point if you wanna compete this year, you need to shut the show down soon with this current run. Take some time and than hit it. That's what I would do at least...

Gotcha... I wouldn't be to concerned with that man. Everyine says that. Mass isn't always the winning factor. Conditioning is. Just don't compromise that with trying to squeeze on a meezly 10 lbs or so. You know classic is done by height and weight too so no matter what your ass needs to make that weight. I'd rather diet down at your size now and focus on quality that add 10 lbs and have to diet harder. That's just my 2 cents though.No I would compete till 2017 I want to put a little more mass on befor step on stage
