So I started working at a supplement store recently and learned a disheartening fact about "nutrition facts" versus "supplement facts" listed on products.
Nutrition facts are allowed to be inaccurate up to 20% in either direction which means they can and do skew the facts in their favor. So they may say there is 20% MORE protein and 20% LESS fat, 20% less carbs and calories than there really is.
A more expensive option for companies is to be certified to have "supplement facts" listed on the back of products instead of "nutrition" which must be well tested and must be 100% accurate.
This is more costly for the company to do but better for us consumers. So if you see a product labels supplement facts instead of nutrition facts know that it is accurate and the company is likely a more ethical and honest company. That doesn't mean other companies are dishonest necessarily but many can and do use this to their advantage.
