HEART HEALTH FACT OF THE DAY: an evaluation of cardiac risk factors REVEALS

In a study of 3,564 men, the Framingham Heart Study evaluated the cardiac impact of six major risk factors: high total cholesterol, low HDL ("good") cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and smoking. A man who is free of all six has a remarkably low 5% risk of developing cardiovascular disease by age 95. In contrast, the risk for a man with two or more risk factors is 69%. In addition, a risk-free man can expect to enjoy 11 more years of life than a man with two or more risk factors.

Ever since I read your thread on low HDL I've been feeling like I'm barely chugging a ounce of blood thru my arteries... thanks for the pep talk bro. Doc's say I'm good, but damn you make some scary points.

The problem is your liver is being instructed to produce cholesterol by the hormones we are voluntarily putting into our bodys. So no diet on the planet can correct for this disruption in our lipid profile. Im trying to understand the degree to which we are harming ourselves by being in this PRO CHOLESTEROL STATE for say a few weeks, months , or in some cases years

This is precisely why you've got to take time off that matches time on - even if you're blasting and cruising - to take all that stress and strain off and let your organs recover. This risk greatly increases, otherwise.

Does the time off even give you a true security blanket? What if putting your cardiovascular system in that state for such a small fraction of time is still deteremintal to your longevity? We assume that the break is what makes it ok. It certainly is better but to say that the break is the ultimate solution is in my opinion us lying to ourselves. I have yet to find any studies showing that the "break" will make the cholesterol or heart disease that is not reversible better again.

That really puts things in perspective of just how important it is to take care of reducing those risks. Great post bro

This is exactly the point, broseff. Not even that is a guarantee of any kid, but still highly recommended to do everything possible to at least try and combat the issues.

This is the same reason why I have to laugh at guys saying "oh yeah I'm protected because I'm running Milk Thistle" or *insert other natural BS supplement*. No bro, you're pumping synthetic hormones into your body and taxing a number of organs, those natural things aren't protecting you from jack shit. It's like driving a burning car into an inferno and saying "It's ok everyone, I've got fire proof gloves on. I'm good to go."
