Hey brothers of iron I'm new here hoping to tap your knowledge. I am a long time lifter 40 yrs old 6'1" 180 lbs 10% body fat. I've been on a keto diet for a while for health rather than weight loss. I have done some sarms cycles with some success and after tons of research think I'm ready to run a test cycle with a goal to put on at least 10 lbs of lean muscle. My question is can I bulk on a near zero carb high fat diet on test? Thanks in advance.

I'm not a fan of the Keto type diets when it comes to bodybuilding, but some people love them. Is it possible to bulk while on Keto? Yes, it's possible....but is it the best way to go about it? Probably not. It really comes down to what diet you want to follow for the goals you are after. I think a properly set macro ratio type diet would be better in my opinion. Carbs are so much more essential to bodybuilding than a lot more people realize, and even much more so while on anabolics because of the higher glycogen uptake in the muscles

If you are on keto for the health benefits then no need to change it for the sake of a few pounds of muscle! Adding some carbs may trigger a negative response and cause whatever health issue you may have to increase!

I'm also not a big fan of keto. I wish I could give you better direction, but gaining solid mass on that diet is tough. I've tried.

I ran Keto numerous times and much success but the main reason I ran it because it was the best way to stick to my fat loss diet. Now if you have cancer and epilepsy Keto is phenomenal. The best diet is the diet that you will be consistent and persistent. I don't use Keto for 2 reasons my 1. cholesterol jacked up 2. Not for muscle building. Fat loss will will occur for bein in a caloric deficit Keto or not.

Yes exactly. I'm all for whatever diet you can stick to that works for you, but at the same time I have seen many times where Keto has significantly raised cholesterol values, so it's not the healthiest diet to follow for sure

This should be plastered over every BB/Keto thread.I did LCHF for 10 months & lost 80lbs eating that way & doing cardio.Keto is best for weight loss along with cardio, not so much for BBing IME.You're going to put on the most minimal amount of mass without carbs bro. It's great for a cut though.Just try & learn how your body responds to sugars/carbs by adjusting your macros.Once it's dialed in it's phenomenal.

keto is not ideal for body building like everyone else is pointing out... to maximize your desire to gain size, thats one of the last diets i would ever put a client on...
