Floor Presses

So I want to know your guys thoughts on doing floor presses. Ive been recently incorporating them into my chest days using various methods with great results. Thoughts?

I think they're great.. You get a really isolated workout on the chest and shoulders. No hips or leg assistance to help you like you can on a flat bench. I need to do them more often.

We have a shrug machine at my gym with hammer style grips, works amazing. You can also isolate one side at a time too. Kettlebell floor presses are absurd too.

I agree... and I agree. I may see some in my near future.

I think they have their place for isolation movement, and targeting the muscle group....though I'll say I don't really like them lol

They're perfect... if your goal is to work on your lockout portion of the bench press. It really serves little purpose for direct hypertrophy. Can it help add strength to the bench? Yes, and that in TURN can allow you to handle heavier loads on your higher rep work, which in turn will equate to more size.

They're good for all those reasons Testdude pointed out. I haven't flat bench pressed in years so I don't do them but its a similar idea to deficit pulls or block pulls for deadlifts. It trains a portion of the lift that carries over.

Great tool to increase bench performance, I recommend this to a lot of college football players looking to increase their maxes.
