Well to be honest you should avoid all activities that are strenuous to the abdominal area. So you are out of luck. Get it fixed, allow your body to heal and then ease back into training.

Bro if you have a hernia I would not recommend training at all right now. Too many movements can just cause you more problems. Talk to your physician about getting this treated and getting yourself n the road to recovery. Also ask him about activity because without knowing the severity of your hernia, it's impossible for us to tell you what you can and cannot do

What type of hernia? Inguinal??? I had that... the doc said 'that was the biggest hernia we've ever seen'. It protruded out like someone sewed a fat short red hot sausage underneath my skin just above my groin and I could shove the intestine back in the hole and watch it snake out again. They scheduled me for immediate surgery a couple of days later.
I was back in the gym 4 days later, BUT, I wouldn't advise this as I feel like I didn't let it heal properly. I have a bodybuilder friend from the DC area and she's a nurse. She still has her hernia, but it's just below her rib cage. She just doesn't want any down time from the gym, but the difference with her and you is she's regularly in Flex magazine placing in shows getting some notoriety. Get fixed, follow the docs advice for the most part and play it safe if you decide to push yourself. Remember stitches, staples and surgical glue are no match for a deep squat, or lunge. Besides you bust that surgery, the automatic fix is to reinforce both sides of the abdominal wall with surgical mesh... more down time and basically double the misery and all the shit you want to avoid with surgery #1.

What type? I'm seven weeks out from Athletic Pubalgia (sports hernia ) surgery. I tore adductor muscle off the pubic bone and tore abdominal muscle off also. Where you located? Philadelphia has probably the best core injury doctor in the USA.
