I run a small online shop and want to separate business calls and texts from my personal number. I need something affordable that works over Wi-Fi, supports voicemail, and does not look suspicious to customers. Which features matter most, and are free apps reliable enough for everyday business use?
Prioritize number stability, call quality, voicemail transcription, and the ability to keep the same number if you change devices. Test it with a few real customers first. A separate business line is useful, but make sure notifications are reliable so orders and delivery questions never sit unanswered overnight.

When I started selling handmade ceramics at weekend markets, I used my personal number for everything and quickly regretted it, customers texted at all hours, and I missed important supplier calls among family messages. Before committing, I compared options and read several Textnow reviews to understand how people handled call quality and number retention. My advice is to test the service for two weeks, save your contacts, and enable voicemail alerts before advertising the number.
