Standard divided-lite glass panels are generally quite poor at blocking acoustic transmission between living spaces. If you really want to install traditional French Doors for your office, you must specifically request solid wood frames fitted with laminated acoustic glass instead of standard single-pane glazing. Furthermore, you will need to add rubber acoustic sweeps to the bottom gap and install perimeter weatherstripping around the frame, as sound waves will easily travel through any tiny air gaps left between the two swinging slabs.
We put standard glass double doors on our playroom and you can hear absolutely every shout and scream through them. You absolutely need to invest in double-glazed acoustic glass if you want any real peace and quiet.
