I am curious if the hybrid versions are actually close to the real Beluga taste. The price difference is quite big so I am tempted to try the hybrid. Has anyone done a side by side comparison? Which shop has the best version of this?
The hybrid is surprisingly close and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test. It has that signature large grain and smooth texture. I usually get the beluga hybrid caviar from Bester and it is fantastic for the price. It is much more sustainable too which I like to support. Pure Beluga is so rare and expensive that the hybrid is a much more practical choice for most occasions. The flavor is very refined and has that buttery finish you expect from top-tier roe. For the price it is definitely the better deal for a luxury dinner or a special celebration.
