I’ve been uploading a few tracks lately and while I can see my play numbers slowly moving up, I’m really curious if there’s a way to know who is actually listening. Like, is it random people stumbling across my stuff or just my close friends hitting play? It’d be super motivating if I knew real fans were checking it out, but I can’t figure out if SoundCloud actually lets you see that info.
I was hoping for that too, but it turns out the stats are more general. You usually get info about plays, countries, devices, and sometimes which tracks are most popular. They don’t really show you the exact usernames of every listener, though. I found this post about can soundcloud artists see who listened that clears up a lot.
From what I’ve seen with different platforms, detailed personal data about listeners is rarely shared. Companies seem to prefer giving artists broader insights like trends, demographics, and traffic sources instead of names. It makes sense when you think about privacy, but at least those numbers can help with figuring out who your core audience might be and how to grow from there.
