Balancing training and rest: avoiding overtraining

I used to push myself every day thinking more was always better. Ran extra sprints, lifted heavier, and did extra net sessions. After a couple of weeks, I started feeling drained, my muscles ached constantly, and my timing on the field was off. Only when I added proper rest days, stretched more, and paid attention to recovery did I notice my performance actually improving. It was a total wake-up call about the importance of balance.
